Brief Job Description

Under the general direction of the Director of Radiology, performs the daily ultrasound imaging and echocardiography studies for the radiologists/physicians.  Maintains a high level of imaging.

 Education: 

Must be a graduate of an approved school of Diagnostic Ultrasound leading to registration as R.D.M.S.

  

Experience:

Experience gained by completing an approved program in ultrasonography.

  

Judgment & Complexity:

A variety of tasks most of which are complex and some that are not subject to check.  Involves discretion and independent judgment to determine variations from standard practice, review facts, and take appropriate action within established criteria.  Plans and arranges own work.  Demands a high degree of accuracy in observing, recording, and transmitting data which directly affects patient care.  Requires specific knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology as well as computer application.  Must be able to obtain an appropriate patient history.  Attention to accuracy and detail is important to perform reliable and consistent ultrasound studies.
