Brief Job Description Physical Therapy Assistant, Licensed:
Performs patient treatments under the general supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. Assists in operational tasks of the department. Modifies treatment for special needs and behaviors of special age groups.
EDUCATION: Job requires graduation from an accredited school for Physical Therapy Assistants approved by the council on Medical Education of A.M.A. and A.P.T.A. Must have successfully completed the Professional Exam Service for Physical Therapy Assistants or its equivalent as required by the State of Oklahoma. All licensure must be current.
EXPERIENCE: Requires no previous experience and six months of learning time on the job.
JUDGMENT AND COMPLEXITY OF WORK: Performs Physical Therapy duties under supervision of a Registered Physical Therapist. Involves a variety of problems while administering therapy. Requires some independent action and judgment to administer treatment, to evaluate patient’s progress, to document appropriately, and to determine action to be taken within standard procedure.
SUPERVISING THE WORK OF OTHERS: Supervises and delegates patient care duties to physical therapy aides under direct supervision. Teaches physical therapy procedures as requested by the Director / Supervisor. |
