Mr. Kean Spellman, CEO of Grady Memorial Hospital, would like to congratulate the laboratory for their recent accomplishment. The Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) has awarded accreditation to Grady Memorial Hospital Five Oaks Medical Group Lab, Chickasha, Oklahoma, based on results of a recent on-site inspection as part of the CAP's Accreditation Programs.
The facility's medical director, Bill Crowell, MD, FCAP, was advised of this national recognition and congratulated for the excellence of the services being provided. Grady Memorial Hospital Five Oaks Medical Group Lab is one of more than 7,000 CAP-accredited facilities worldwide.
During the CAP accreditation process, designed to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients, inspectors examine the laboratory's records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and overall management.
Dr. Crowell and Debbie Cave, MT (ASCP), who is the laboratory manager, were proud to receive this honor. Dr. Crowell said, "Debbie and I have worked together for over 35 years. This marks my 20th laboratory inspection and Debbie's 17th CAP inspection. I am thankful to be a part of such a great team." At present, the laboratory staff includes more than 30 employees and provides laboratory services continually, 24 hours a day, and 7 days a week.
