is to provide skillful, thorough, courteous examination, observation and
treatment.
The medical group is staffed with physicians who specialize in
Internal
medicine, general surgery,
orthopaedics and sports medicine,
obstetrics/gynecology,
pediatrics, family medicine, and
podiatry.
Ancillary support staff includes:
Neurology,
Ophthalmology,
Oncology, and Otorhinolaryngology ( Ear, Nose and Throat)
Five Oaks is open Monday
through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The
department serves non-emergent patients and is located on the grounds
of Grady Memorial Hospital.
Laboratory testing is performed on-site in a new highly advanced medical
lab.
Radiological studies are performed in Grady
Memorial Hospital.
Radiological patient diagnostic testing services include: bone
densitometry,
four dimensional ultrasound, nuclear medicine, EKG. MRI and Cat Scan and
the
latest in digital mammography.

Medical Specialties

Family Medicine
Family Medicine's goal is to prevent illness, maintain good health and
control disease. Emotional, social, family and other concerns are an
important part of well-being. The discipline focuses on looking at the
whole person, considering all aspects of life when treating a patient
illness or helping a patient stay healthy. Family Medicine provides a
full range of care from obstetrics, pediatrics, to young families
through to mature geriatric patients.
Laura Black-Wicks, DO, Family Medicine
Dr. Black-Wicks holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the
University of Evansville and her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Des
Moines University. Her residency training was completed at the
Community Hospital of Indianapolis. Dr. Black-Wicks is Board Certified.
Shelly Faubion, DO, ACOFP, Family Medicine
Dr. Faubion holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Oklahoma
City University and her doctorate of medicine from the Oklahoma Sate
University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Tulsa. She completed her
Internship at Hillcrest Health Center in Oklahoma City. Dr. Faubion is
Board Certified.
Kaleb Hamilton, MD, Family Medicine w/Obstetrics
Dr. Hamilton holds a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of
Oklahoma College of Medicine. He has completed a Family Medicine
Residency and an Obstetrics Fellowship at Memorial Family Practice in
South Bend Indiana.
Randy Gordon, PA-C
Mr. Gordon holds a Master of Health Sciences degree as a Physician
Assistant from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in
Oklahoma City. Affiliations: Board Certified, National Commission
on Certification of Physicians Assistants,
Ancillary Staff, Grady Memorial Hospital, Member, Oklahoma Academy of
Physician Assistants Member, American Academy of Physician Assistants.
General Surgery
General Surgery is a specialty that encompasses a number of different
diseases and anatomic sites. It includes abdominal surgery and
particularly gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, and colorectal diseases,
head and neck surgery, breast diseases, surgical endocrinolocy, trauma
and the management of the critically ill patient. New technologies such
as G.I. endoscopy and laparoscopy allow our surgeons to perform the most
advanced levels of treatment.
Amish Patel, DO, General Surgery
Dr Patel, who was born and raised in Evansville, Indiana, is a graduate
of the University of Southern Indiana. He received his Doctorate of
Osteopathic Medicine at the Oklahoma State University College of
Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa. He completed a one year internship at Mt.
Clemens General Hospital, Mt. Clemens', Michigan. He then completed four
years of general surgery residency training at Botsford General Hospital
in Farmington Hills Michigan and Garden City Hospital, Garden City
Michigan.
John Presley, MD, General Surgery
Dr. Presley holds a
Bachelor of Arts, with Honors from the University of Texas,
Austin, Texas. His
Medical
Doctorate is from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical
School, Dallas, Texas. He completed an internship and residency
training at St. Joseph’s Hospital,
Houston, Texas. He also completed
a Surgical Oncology Fellowship at the Stehlin Foundation for Cancer
Research, Houston, Texas
Internal Medicine
Internal medicine is a scientific discipline encompassing the study of,
diagnosis of, and treatment of non-surgical diseases. The general
internist is a physician who provides care in the office and the
hospital, managing both common and complex problems in adolescents,
adults and the elderly. Internists diagnose and treat a spectrum of
acute and chronic illnesses, promote health and help prevent disease.
They are trained in the essentials of primary care, which involves an
understanding of disease prevention, wellness, substance abuse, mental
health, and effective treatment of common problems of the eyes, ears,
skin, nervous system, and reproductive organs.
T. W. Essex, DO, Internal Medicine
Dr. Essex holds his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the University
of Kansas School of Medicine, Kansas City, MO. He completed an
internship at the Brighton Medical Center, Portland, MN and his
residency in Internal Medicine at the Osteopathic Medical Center of
Texas in Ft. Worth. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
Don Hess, MD, Internal Medicine
Dr. Hess holds his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Oklahoma
Schools of Medicine. His internship was completed at the University of
Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. He is Board Certified by the American
Board of Family Practice.
Willam M. Ohl, PA-C
Bill Ohl holds a Bachelor of Science as a Physician Assistant from the
Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center, Oklahoma City, OK. He holds
a Diploma in Nursing from Saint Anthony Hospital Nursing Program,
Oklahoma City.
Obstetrics/Gynecology
Obstetrics/Gynecology is a diversified field concerned with the delivery
of health care to women. It combines two specialties: obstetrics which
focuses on care before, during, and after a woman gives birth, and
gynecology, which refers to diseases and conditions of the female
reproductive system.
Christine Cooper, MD, Obstetrician/Gynecologist
Dr. Cooper completed her Doctor of Medicine at the University of
Oklahoma College of Medicine, Oklahoma City OK. She holds undergraduate
degrees in Biological Science and Psychology from Oklahoma State
University, Stillwater OK. She completed her residency training in
Obstetrics and Gynecology at Southern Illinois University School of
Medicine and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Her
practice interests in addition to obstetrics and gynecology include:
incontinence, minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery, adolescent
gynecology, and sterilization.
Michael Dobbs, MD, Obstetrician/Gynecologist
Dr. Dobbs holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Trinity
University, San Antonio, Texas. His Medical Doctorate degree is from the
University Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, Texas; M.D. He completed his
Internship and Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the David Grant
USAF Medical Center, Travis AFB, California. He is Board Certified in
Obstetrician/Gynecologist.
Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine
Orthopaedics is the medical specialty devoted to the
diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of injuries and
diseases of your body's musculoskeletal system. This complex system
includes your bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves and
allows you to move, work and be active.
B. Ashwini Kumar, MD, Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr. Kumar, a graduate of Medical School in India completed residency
training in Birmingham, United Kingdom. As a Fellow of the Royal College
of Surgeons, he completed resident training in both General Surgery and
Orthopaedic Surgery in Glasgow, United Kingdom. He recently completed
a fellowship in Sports Medicine in Buffalo, NY including knee and
shoulder arthroscopy, anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, rotator
cuff repair. While in Buffalo, he worked in the training camp for the
Buffalo Bills football team. He will be offering a full range of
orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine services at Five Oaks and Grady.
Jack J. Beller, MD, Orthopaedics & Sports
Medicine
Dr. Beller holds a Bachelor of Science from Oklahoma State
University. His Doctorate of Medicine is from the University of
Oklahoma. He completed his internship at St. Anthony Hospital in
Oklahoma City and his Residency at the University of Oklahoma Health
Sciences Center. Dr. Beller is Board Certified in Orthopaedics.
Pediatrics
Pediatrics is the care of infants and children, adolescents and young
adults through college age. Pediatricians are engaged in a broad range
of clinical practice with emphasis on preventative care, counseling, and
the management of both common and highly complex illnesses.
Xavier Gonzalez, MD, Pediatrician
Dr. Gonzalez holds a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from California
State University and an Doctor of Medicine Degree from the Universidad
Autonoma De Guadalajara, Guadalajara, Mexico. He completed his
internship at the Moncton Hospital in Canada, a clinical cardiology
instructor and assistant position in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico and
residency training in pediatrics at Oklahoma Children's Memorial
Hospital, Oklahoma City, OK.
Podiatry
Thomas L. Wicks, DPM. Podiatry
Dr. Wicks holds a Bachelor of Arts from Wartburg College, Waverly,
Iowa. His Doctor of Podiatry is from Des Moines University.
He completed his residency at Michigan Community of Hospital. Dr. Wicks
is Board Certified.
